MADE BY HAND IN PLYMOUTH
Comfort shaped by skill, time, and human touch.
Vispring has refined the art of bed making since 1901.
Inside its Plymouth workshop, more than 200 skilled artisans build each mattress and divan through a series of specialized processes. Springs are formed and nested by hand. Natural fillings are carefully teased and layered. Borders are side stitched, upholstery is secured with hand tied tufts, and every finished mattress is inspected before leaving the workshop.
These details are not merely decorative. Each one contributes to the responsiveness, breathability, stability, and lasting character of the bed.
INSIDE EVERY VISPRING MATTRESS
Three foundations of Vispring comfort.

Calico Pocket Springs
Individual vanadium steel springs are enclosed in breathable calico cotton pockets and nested by hand in a honeycomb formation.
Each spring responds independently to changes in weight and movement. Selected mattresses use one, two, or three spring layers to create progressively refined support throughout the depth of the mattress.

Natural Upholstery
Wool, cotton, horsetail, cashmere, silk, bamboo, alpaca, and other natural fibers are selected according to the character of each mattress.
These materials are carefully prepared and layered over the springs to create softness, resilience, breathability, and natural temperature regulation.

Hand Tufting
Tufts are placed through the mattress by hand to secure the spring system and natural upholstery without relying on synthetic foams or adhesives.
This process creates the distinctive sculpted surface of a Vispring mattress while helping the internal materials remain evenly distributed.

ARTISANAL SIDE STITCHING
Strength created one stitch at a time.
Hand side stitching connects the outer border of the mattress to the internal spring structure.
Using natural twine and long upholstery needles, skilled artisans work through the border by hand. Depending on the mattress, multiple rows of stitching help stabilize the edges, preserve the shape of the mattress, and extend responsive support across the sleeping surface.
This demanding process requires patience, precision, and experience. On the most elaborate Vispring mattresses, the side stitching alone can require several hours to complete.

NATURAL MATERIALS
Every layer serves a purpose.
Vispring selects natural materials for the particular qualities they bring to the finished mattress.
Wool provides softness, resilience, and temperature regulation. Cotton adds breathability and a smooth natural feel. Horsetail creates springlike loft and ventilation. Cashmere, silk, alpaca, and bamboo introduce additional softness, warmth, and refinement within selected models.
The combination and quantity of these materials change throughout the Vispring collections. This allows every mattress to express a distinct balance of cushioning, responsiveness, and support.

THE COMPLETE SLEEP SYSTEM
Craftsmanship continues beneath the mattress.
A Vispring divan is not simply a platform beneath the mattress. It is a responsive foundation constructed to work with the mattress above it.
Pocket springs and natural upholstery within the divan provide an additional layer of movement and cushioning. The mattress and foundation respond together, creating a deeper and more complete expression of the comfort intended for each Vispring bed.
The divan can then be coordinated with a handcrafted headboard, selected upholstery, and individually chosen legs to complete the bed.
